LEITAT

Acondicionamiento tarrasense associacion (LEITAT) is a private technological centre with different locations in the Barcelona region. Founded in 1906, LEITAT is one of the reference entities at the state and European level in technology management. It has a team of more than 500 professionals, experts in applied research, technical services and management of technological and innovation initiatives. LEITAT provides social, industrial, economic and sustainable value, offering comprehensive solutions in multiple sectors and areas: health & biomedicine, development of new materials, eco-sustainable production, occupational health prevention systems, revaluation of waste and use of natural resources, interconnectivity and digitization of industry, green energy and maximisation of energy efficiency. LEITAT is recognised by the Ministry of Science and Innovation and is one of the main entities participating in the Horizon2020 and Horizon Europe programs of the European Union.

In REBORN, LEITAT utilises its expertise in battery dismantling, acquired through its involvement in two ongoing EU projects, to aid in the development of a battery design that can be easily disassembled with the assistance of collaborative robots in a collaborative cell.

Leitat will test a semiautomatic battery pack dismantling setup. To avoid personal danger in manual operations, LEITAT will introduce mixed reality teleoperation in its battery dismantling laboratory to facilitate the automatic disassembly of the newly designed and prototyped battery to the module level. Existing solutions are demonstrated only at the laboratory level. LEITAT will use the battery dismantling lab with realistic conditions and safety measures to work with the dismantling of real batteries, thus achieving TRL 5-6.
